florence is my least favorite relative…

enough said.

this month has started with quite a buzz, pun intended if you were thinking termites! we’re still seeing a few here and there after a second trip from the initial terminix visit. it may just spark a third call for treatment.

lizzy and i have been busy little bee’s this month. she’s been focused on getting through her PRE-K stuff and it seems like she’s pretty good for breezing through the kindergarten stuff too!

we did all our recital photos last week… lizzy takes great photos it was difficult to choose which pose to get for her ad we took out! my little dancer, those toes always pointed, chin level to the ground, thumbs hidden and shoulders back… she’s really loving it all!

and she’s 5 - which floors me to think that she’s growing up so fast!

she had a great birthday party and now this month is full of returning the RSVP. we have 3 parties on schedule and one we’re waiting to get a time for… all her little friends are so sweet!! it’s funny how they all have birthdays in the same week, but they all don’t know eachother! lol

petsumi is growing slowly. i’m having fun with it - been making new friends on the site, and the people who are using it are liking it.

boxacross was neglected last week - busy with lizzy, so this week i need to take a bunch of photos and get some new posts done. i think i’ve earned a free box from julep from my referrals— so as long as people are using my referral links, i’ll hopefully get some more boxes sent to me from all the other subscription services i’ve been reviewing SOON!!

right now - i think i’ll curl up on the sofa so sebastian can keep my feet warm and thumper can lay on my tummy.

goes un-punished.

i tried to get the trees that hang over the house taken care of since we’re heading into hurricane season… rodney and his handy helper came over this morning to do the job… and well, now we need the deck railing repaired. apparently his friend wasn’t holding onto the rope tight enough, and the tree came crashing down onto the back deck.

luckily, it wasn’t the roof (silver lining) but josh is not pleased, so he decided to head into work… yeah.

to make the situation even that much more unbearable my 3 guard pugs are barking every time they hear something or see anything move in the back yard. fun fun fun!

not sure if he;s going to do the second tree- since his first attempt has him doing an additional repair… we shall see.

the termites have swarmed in the house for a second time, so once again i’ve called terminix to come and re-treat our situation… this summer is going to be a real doosie. geepers! i’ll be ready for that vacation!

today i ran out to get a pizza for dinner. lizzy had her ballet photos on monday and we have acro photos today. recital is sneaking up on us and will be here before we know it.

while out for pizza i saw TASTY KAKES… tasty cakes remind me of my nana, so i bought a box of the chocolate ones (even though i like the koffee kakes more) and lizzy and i are going to eat them for a snack in a bit and remember my nana.

feeling like a princess

pick a disney princess… because my life is like a fairy tale!

i feed the birds, and the butterflies flock to me, a la snow white. working on those cardinals. ;p

i clean the house, have felt like the left out child, have animal friends i can county on, but unlike cinderella i am not covered in fireplace cinders!

i’m headstrong, and love to read, and just like belle, i try to see beyond the cover.

i have a tea party almost weekly, like alice. lizzyP is my madhatter! she always has more tea than me! haa haa haa

i’m a diamond in the rough like tiana and can cook some mean cajun and creole food, and became a princess once i was married. ;)

lizzyP wakes me up every morning with a kiss- just like sleeping beauty. and i have pricked my finger on many a sewing needle!!

i do not fit in, much like mulan, i have honor for my family.

i have wisdom and courage and like pocahontas, i stand by my man, feet firmly planted on mother earth.

i have left one world for another, just like ariel. (and i do love seafood!)

i have found love, and a whole new world, like princess jasmine, married for and am rich in love!

of course some of these fair princesses have their fair share of woes as i too have but sometimes to truly be a queen, one must be the benevolent ruler. i take a noble stand for her kingdom.

i waltz around the house, sing songs, and talk to the animals…isn’t that normal?
and sure i’d love to have a tiara and beautiful sparkley ball gown, but i’ll leave the dressing up to lizzyP.

i have found my prince-charming, like every true princess has and believe in a happily ever after.

all of this - well as always, my wishes really do come true.
a dream is a wish your heart makes!

guess who was a fibber? someone who has been sneaking her thumb… any ideas who that could be?

mommy and daddy are really disappointed to find out that EP has not been 100% honest about her suckythumb. not sure what we can do to help her curb her thumbatite!!

yesterday lizzy got a dose of nana. we took her out to lunch. it was nice to get together, weather was perfect and so we lunched outside with a nice view of the water and planes taking off.

last night the boy and i had cause to celebrate. gravity boulevard is taking off - and now i think he’s going to be busier than ever… he’s already working about 80 hours a week between his day job and then his own stuff: code code code code code… and i can’t be more proud than i am every day when i hear the reports. lizzy will be busy picking colors for sites, and i’m currently trying to come up with a good domain name for yet another network. so yeah, lot’s getting ready to launch. it’s amazing watching it all grow.

speaking of growing, boxacross has been caught up and now, i hope to gain more followers. been getting a lot of great stuff, and this weekend i need to focus and put up 3 or 4 different posts. mail box was full of goodies this week!! ;)

the EB was especially generous to EP this year!

she got lots of great things and just a little bit of candy.

the night before the bunny made it’s way to our house, josh and i had a great date night. oysters and mojitos and a delicious spinach salad… perfect night.

we also made it to walgreens, which for whatever reason is josh’s favorite place to shop. lol - he gets all giddy excited when he comes home from the WG because he’s always finding cool stuff.

lizzy has been super excited and on a count down… she’s turning 5 at the end of the month. she’s been whipping through her last preK books and is eager to start the K stuff… and somehow i think she’s going to be going into 1st grade stuff before we know it. she’s growing up so fast! she’s even gone a week and a half w/o sucking her thumb, she had one night that she woke up upset because her thumb went into her mouth while she was sleeping, she’s so determined to be done with the “baby stuff” because being a “BIG GIRL” means she gets her new bed… and i think someone is ready to do a little update to her room!

speaking of big girl stuff, we decided to get her the my american girl doll for her birthday. she’s been wanting one and we weren’t sure if we should get the bitty baby or the regular look alike doll. after seeing a friend’s doll we decided the regular doll would be perfect. we’ve had a few of their catalogs sent in the mail and as soon as they come in, lizzy has been going through it with a pen and circling what she likes… i think she’s going to freak out when she gets her doll!

lizzy has said she has not sucked her thumb for 6 nights in a row.

she bruised her lip on an apple juice bottle last wednesday. it looked pretty bad. somehow whn she was taking a sip, the suction was really tight and her upper lip got stuck. i told her that she can’t suck her thumb so it will heal.

maybe this is a blessing in disguise?

i think with her bruise on her lip and her birthday coming up, she’s thinking that she want’s to be a big girl and get her new bed soon.

6 days without sucking her thumb!

it’s taken a few weeks to get organized.

i’ve been really focused on getting my beauty blog http://boxacross.com/ going. I’ve been getting some great things in my subscription boxes over the past few months. it reminds me of when i was working for prescriptives and getting gratis and new stuff all the time! i miss gratis. so i guess this is the next best thing.

starting next week, boxacross will be up to date and should be at a manageable point that i’ll shift focus to our homeschooling blog.

speaking of home schooling, i’m going to the convention this year since it’s going to be our first official year of schooling. KINDERGARTEN here we come. lizzy is excited that we are almost done with our PreK books. she’s excited to start her new books. she’s already starting to read and likes to write letters. i think having a school desk at the house helps with keeping her focused and motivated to learn.

i really should go to bed earlier, maybe even at a decent time… 3 and 4 hours of sleep a night was OK when I was younger, but these days I could use 16 hours a day of sleep!

i really need to find a way to make myself go to bed earlier, so i can get a decent night’s sleep. maybe i’ll try and be good starting monday.

right now i have my cuddle pug snoring next to me, and the other 2 are snoring away on their pillow

gosh- i really need a nap, think i’ll take one!

yeah- there’s a new house favorite blowing up the airwaves here at the house.

listening to mac miller - and sure we’re not “high on life” (pun intended) the same way he is, but the kid has some good rhymes and his lyrics are smart.

lizzy and i got back a little bit ago from seeing a play at the straz theater - a 3 person play of beauty & the beast. it was really cute and very interactive for lizzy. she had such a good time and we met “sticks” after the show… now she’s wanting to see another play soon.

been doing a lot of fun things for schoolwork with the kiddo. she is super excited to almost be done with her preK books because she wants to start doing kindergarten stuff soon. i like that she’s interested in doing her home school work for the most part- she just doesn’t like writing her letters… so i’ve come up with a few ways to get her interested in that.

speaking of- she needs to help me with a few whydex posts this week, i’ve been busy with boxacross and haven’t posted to the homeschool blog either— like i’ve said before, too many blogs so little time…

i’ve been working on a few different blogs, keeping myself more than busy, so i haven’t been posting much.

not that i have millions of people waiting for me to post, but i’ve been busy living life and not writing about it. i’m also bad with taking pictures to “capture the moment” which is bad since there’s about a 2 year chunk of lizzy’s life that i think i’ve only taken a handful of actual photos… again living life and being immersed in the experience rather than worrying about having proof.

but i do need to get better about that - the photo taking part of it, for her sake so she’ll have photos to look back on.

but i’m off track!!

so yeah - life…

here’s the february update

it’s funny how we really are about the simple things in life. maybe it’s the hermit in me liking things simple or it’s something that comes with age. on that i could write a book.

homeschooling has been fun- that’s one (more like 2) of my blogs that i’ve been trying to put together. i have 2 separate blogs since one is for me to post what we’ve done- things of interest and ideas about creativity; while the other blog is more of an index for lizzy, focusing on concepts and ideas that she comes up with…

these are the days i wish i was shiva, i could use a few extra arms to get it all done.

but somethng tells me with those extra arms not only would i have a difficult time finding a shirt to wear, but i’d probably just grab a blanket and take a nap.

i’m also working on my beauty blog- that’s been fun and lizzy’s been helping with that too. i’m a little behind and backlogged but i guess that is good; i hopefully won’t run out of content and ideas.

i’m really doing all this — including TGJ for me, not for anything or anyone else, so if i did run out of content that would mean i’d be closer to that nap, right?

i did a little bit of sewing yesterday. i had bought an outfit for lizzy and the waist was too big (of course) because the shorts didn’t have the adjustable waistline. she has my tiny waist so sometimes things have to be taken in. that was my fault. pretty much everything has to be full on elastic all the way around or adjustable. it’s too bad the target line discontinues doing most of their line with the adjustable waistlines! ;(

since i’ve been sewing, or rather thinking about sewing, i’ve decided to take some of the material i have lying around and make a pillowcase style top/dress for lizzy, and i might make a top for myself too.

in other news, we had some unexpected and uninvited guests at the house lately. seems that both sides of the family decided to converge… of course i’m speaking of termites!! yep, not just the dry wood kind but the subterranean one too. nothing like getting a double dose of this old bungalow reality. terminix was out yesterday and we got the full on termite treatment. luckily we caught everything in the early stages so we didn’t have to tent! one small catastrophe overcome!!

i think the plumbing is next… seems our shower has lost most of the water pressure, so i fear it’s a leak… we aren’t having any issues any where else in the house.

funny how when you start to get ahead something pops up and monkey wrenches the even flow status quo.

it’s crazy that we’re already in march.

we have a MILESTONE birthday this year for lizzy - i can’t believe she’s almost 5!! and then me, are you sure i’ll be 40?
