Dear Diary,
I had a birthday recently!
Getting closer and closer to that perfect score of 100 each and every year!
YAY ME!

As for my birthday weekend, I spent it with the hubs, kiddo and our pugs. A very quiet and simple weekend. Josh and LP made my weekend special.
We started with lunch on Friday.
On my birthday Josh made breakfast: French toast, and dinner: Steak tips and broccoli. I really love broccoli, and not just because they look like happy little trees.
LP grabbed Starbucks while Josh was making b’fast. She bought flowers, really pretty fresh hydrangeas, and gave me a beautiful necklace and trinket dish. Oh and the best part was the homemade card – which has been tradition for a while now. <3
BONUS POINTS- all the dishes were also done. 😉 LOL
We watched the Angels game, and it was a birthday miracle! THEY WON!
But yes, a nice birthday weekend indeed.

As I’ve gotten older, I don’t really look forward to “celebrating” my birthday. Half the time I forget how OLD I am, and have to do a bit of math to calculate my age. Not because I’m forgetful, but let’s be honest… at a certain point, you really do stop counting. For me that was 50. I got to 50 and was like, “OK, no need to continue counting EVERY SINGLE YEAR, I’ll just count by 5’s or 10’s moving forward.” LOL

I will say that time is definitely flying by.
Is that true as we get older, that time feels like it’s sped up to 1.5x, or is it just me?

Summertime in Texas is in full swing. We’re having 100+ degree days, and it’s even still sweltering after 10pm at night. We’ve had a bit of rain recently, and I think we’re out of being in a drought, at least for this week. It’s Texas, and we still have 2 more months of the hot hot hot.
Summer will be over before I know it, and then there’s what’s on the horizon.

In other news:
I’ve been working on a new canvas, and trying to get a bit looser with my BRUSHSTROKES.
I might actually finish this next canvas soon. It’s a 30×40 “Monet inspired” waterlily landscape. I’m really trying to be messier with this canvas, but that’s proving to be difficult. I just don’t do messy very well. What I might do… is cover a pair of old glasses with gauze or vaseline or maybe cheese-cloth, just for a bit of forced obstructed vision, and see if I can get a bit more “Monet” upon the canvas.
Now I’m thinking I’ll scrap this canvas and start over and do just that!

Hopefully the next post will be one with a photo of my summer waterlilies!
Cross fingers.

PS- Hi Jessica, I know if you were still around, you would have wished me a happy birthday!
She always did like my “Dear Diary” posts. <3
